This image was taken early in college, the assignment was still life I believe. Anywho, also taken with a Pentax k1000, 100 speed film, and I believe I was still using ilford at the time. 50mm lens, with closeup focus filter. After an hour in the darkroom printing, it was probably the first image where my thought was... "Oh, I totally get this. Maybe it's not rocket science.."
There is still something magical about the whole darkroom and film experience. The uncertainty of no proof or results until you've processed the film adds a heavy layer of mystery. Did I get the exposure right? Did the film load correctly into the holder? Did I open the camera too early and expose the whole roll to light? And maybe that's where the thrill comes in, and hooks you into the process.
