Last night's show with North Mississippi Allstars / Anders Osborne was glorious (pictured).
In my mere 30 years so far on this planet, I've been fortunate to see way too many music shows. My hearing (lack of) is proof. Lost track of count when I was 20... but last night's was one of the better I've seen in years. Not due to any particular reason (they were excited, but not over the top, no pyrotechnics or fancy light shows), it was just great to see two bands share the stage at the top of their game. Ten minutes into the show they had 3 guitarists, 2 drummers, 1 bassist, and 2 vocalists riffing/sharing melodies/playing off each other, without ever getting muddy. Melodic noodling combined with moments of Neil Young'esque distorted stomps. Moments (personal favorites) of pure sound reverberating through walls created by pedals and atmosphere (think Steppenwolf between choruses of Born to be Wild/Magic Carpet). So much fun. Hope y'all get to see them in your area.
